The integration of people from other linguistic and cultural backgrounds was improved by the new Foreign Nationals Act of 2008.The law provides those responsible with the necessary measures to improve the integration of foreign nationals. Abuses can thus be better combatted, in particular human trafficking, marriages of convenience and illegal residence.
The situation of legally and permanently resident foreign nationals is improved. Integration efforts are stepped up and foreign nationals can and should play their part.
Linguistic and cultural diversity can be experienced and utilised as strengths. As in football (U17), in music the concept of the Choir of Nations provides a structure supported by the federal government, cantons, municipalities, associations, members and sponsors.
